They Made It Through: My Apps Since 2015

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hey there, my initial plan was to write about my newly installed app for 2016, but then seeing my apps of 2015 on the phone, felt like writing about them.

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood

Latest Addiction, I usually can’t keep games on my phone for a long time, I get too addicted and then BAM, I lose interest in a few weeks. Temple Run, Subway Surf, Hay Day, Candy Crush Saga and Soda,  Logo Quiz, 8 Ball Pool to name a few.

I’m not the dress up game kind, but this one, so far I like it, it’s like Coco Girl on Facebook but far more realistic, feels good living the virtual Hollywood life, it actually gets to you.

From a regular sales assistant to an A list celebrity with 13.3 M followers in less than a month, well that’s how much I’ve played.

But I kinda drifted off this year with the workload, but now back in track, I manage to keep some time away for this.

Charades

There were 2 in the play store, but this be my fav, because of the wide range of topics offered, I rarely play it though, except on family get togethers.

Or most of the time it’s been between me and cousin Akmal playing Harry Potter, Hunger Games or Landmarks.

Repost for Instagram

You know what it is for (Nexxxt)

Pages Manager

To manage my FB page, not that I wanted this app, but apparently I gotta have this if I need to respond to messages and all.

Decision Maker

My lifesaver app when it comes to giveaways, make things a lot easier, I just have to enter the options and TAP.

Dialog Selfcare

Not that it helps me that much, when I want to reload it redirects me to the browser anyway. (It’s just 2MB, which is why I still have it, but soon…)

Speedtest

When my internet goes cuckoo, (and it does most of the time) and I need to check the speed in order to explain to customer care, this comes in handy.

CBC- Commercial Bank Online Banking

Faster way to check my balance and e statements, but then again, it has it’s flaws too.

VR Cinema

My favourite app while using VR glasses, converts any image or video stored into VR mode.

VR Roller Coaster

The only VR game I find somewhat interesting, gives you a dizzy feeling once you’ve had a ride.

PickMe

Day to day travel app, if you are in Sri Lanka, this is so far the safest and affordable travel app, the only con, advance bookings should be made 2 hours prior to the intended time.

You Cam Perfect

Been seeing ads on insta about this for a long time, but didn’t give it a second glance, never wanted to download until I used it on a friends phone at a meet up.

While being a medium selfie addict, I’m not someone who is into filters, but this is very useful in places with less or more light, adjusts perfectly (Favourite filter Fresh), and also for Product photography, provides sufficient light, all I have to do afterwards is make slight adjustments on Picasa or PicsArt.

So, that’s it for my apps that survived through 2015 and now to 2016, will post soon about my newly installed app for 2016. Do give the above a try if you haven’t already and recommend ones which you find useful and interesting.

Lessons from a Sunday Evening

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Sundays, argh, I know every one of us hates Sundays , the day that takes away our freedom to sleep more the next day, but oddly though sunday is the day I find myself working a lot, usually saturday is my day, sleep as much as you want!

Sunday on the other hand is my stay at home, active day, solely dedicated to my hobbies and everything else (Laundry, Cleaning etc), oh and NO TV (Not a big TV fan).

Sunday is also my blog idea day, especially the last hour of Sunday, I wonder if it’s the stress of the past week upon me, or the thought of Monday and no sleep or just the excitement of writing a new post, I do not know.

As the title suggests, yes, the previous Sunday did indeed teach me a few lessons, which I’ll not forget forever, and which I will take encouragement from, this post serves that purpose, of reminding me forever.

LESSON 1: DO NOT HANG ON TO OLD THINGS, AT ONE POINT YOU GOTTA LET GO

It started off late evening, when I decided to go through my accessories, and pick which ones still suit best (high time I wear them), so half of my fashion jewelry were handed down (or rather taken forcefully) by my siblings, while the other half were given to the bin (I did keep 2 or 3 for me), I could have given them for someone, but  still, it’s always best to give the best to others, If you don’t like it or need it, others won’t too.

And these, mind you, were my most treasured, and rarely worn, that day I decided that they are not going to adorn my cupboard anymore, at one point I have to give them up for some one in real need, someone who wears them, and that’s exactly what I did!

LESSON 2: DO NOT PROCRASTINATE, IF YOU CAN DO IT TOMORROW YOU CAN DO IT TODAY, AND YOU CAN DO ANYTHING

One thing led to another, and I found myself giving my room a complete cleanup, making changes here and there.

That is when I noticed THE loose panel at the back of my table, it’s been there that way for the past 2 years and I’ve always wanted to get it done by a carpenter, which obviously never happened, and I decided that today would be the last day I’ll think that way.

Paused everything which I was doing, grabbed a few nails, a hammer and in 15 minutes, there my table is, with no sign of a 2 year old loose panel.

Sometimes we’ve got to be the carpenter, painter (happy to say that I did my entire room alone last Feb) , plumber and everything else in our life.

We’ve got to stop depending on others or procrastinating matters, especially if it takes a few minutes to to get it done, why not do it right NOW?

LESSON 3: YOU FIND BEAUTY IN THE MOST UNLIKELIEST THINGS

The branches that add 'something' to my boring table
Once done with the cleaning, it was time to get those branches in place, while one was serving its purpose as room décor, the other, well, was kinda a mess in my room, and I only wanted the main branch out of it.

I cut off the edges, and was picking them up to throw, voila, there’s a beauty in my hands, I really didn’t have the heart to dispose it, and now, they add something to my boring table.

LESSON 4: BEING A WOMAN ISN’T EASY

At the end of the night, while brushing, I was going through everything that took place throughout the day in my mind, and the things I have to do after brushing, its definitely not easy being a woman.

So much to take care of , Skincare, Oral care, Hair care (especially with dry curly hair like mine), and then there is the health to watch out for, eat healthy, office work, gotta keep the place tidy, keep relationships going, damn, kudos to us women!

Last but not the least, saw this picture on Instagram, found it too cute, and couldn't help but share it with everyone.

Resolutions for everyone

ASMR Head Massage: For a Quick and Peaceful Sleep

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Last weekend while having my virtual head massage (and falling asleep in 3min of course), I thought maybe it's high time that I introduce my readers to this blissful method for a quick and peaceful sleep.

What is ASMR?

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, or cognitive stimuli.

Now in Simple English:

Pleasant tingling or buzzing sensations felt in the head. YouTube videos or hearing people whispering can stimulate the sensation. Other triggers may include goal-oriented tasks, soft-speaking, role-playing, and music.

How it all started:

One fine night, I wanted a head massage and no one were ready to give me one :( , and I was too lazy to use my Head Massager. (This is a must have). You can purchase it at any online store for a few dollars, or if you are in Sri lanka, it's available for purchase Here

Pressure Point Head Massager Tool

So, here I was, dreaming about a head massage at the salon the next day, but then you know how we you tube addicts feel, we love checking out 'How its done' videos.

The next thing I know, I'm on you tube, I type in 'Head Massage at Salon' , watch a few videos, and then I come across something that says 'ASMR Hair Brushing', I'm sure just the thought of having your hair brushed gives you that tingly sleepy sensation, and that's exactly what the thought and the video did to me.

From that day I've watched all kinds of ASMR videos, and a few selected ones more than once.

You can watch that very first Hair Brushing video below:

Basically ASMR videos are shot in a very feel at home atmosphere, and instead of talking they whisper (Not in a creepy way, but in a soothing tone).

A few special equipment are used while recording ASMR videos in order to achieve the real feel, when you watch these you realize that you can actually hear the comb brushing the hair, or the scalp scratching etc.

If you like to know what the basic equipment are, watch the video below:

Types of ASMR videos:

1. Audio Only (All you have to do is close your eyes and listen)

2. Video
    i. Ones where they massage or comb the camera
ii. Ones where massages are done on another person

Most of these videos are Binaural (which requires you to wear both headphones), and I love the videos (especially the 2nd type) over audios, and I also hate wearing headsets in bed, it doesn't help me sleep well. You know that feeling when something is nagging you constantly, that's what the headset does, a tiny barrier between be and my bed.

Best and my most favourite ASMR Video Channels on Youtube:

Fairy Char ASMR
MassageASMR
ASMR Massage Psychetruth
Olivia's Kissper AMR
WhispersRed ASMR

My Challenge for You:

I have shared one of my most favourite and most watched (I finally downloaded it) videos below, and I challenge you to watch it till the end (It's only 12 mins, and I rarely get to watch it full) without falling asleep.

Most of the time I feel really sleepy by the 6th minute, and I pause the the video, off the mobile data, and within the next second I'm in a deep sleep, the 1st thing I wake up to in the morning is the paused you tube video.

Back to the challenge, the rules are:

  • You must lie on a bed or any other comfortable surface
  • To be watched only at Night or in the Evening
  • No Multitasking (Texting, Writing, Talking etc)
  • Last but not the least, MUST WATCH ALONE
Try it out and let us know how it went along with the hashtag #AQasmrChallenge , on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
