Long Time No Write: Sometimes March Happens In Life

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hey There! AGAIN

So, the previous part of the post was how March was the month of deaths, well, it doesn't end with the passing of my granny.

Even before we were out of the initial shock, more deaths followed, just not anyone related this time, but still, another human, at least 2 deaths a day, due to accidents, suicides, bomb blasts or sudden deaths for petty reasons! Death has taken its toll this month!

Along with all that grief, depression and frustration, oh, and the heat, the flu hit me a week later, and had me bed ridden for a couple of days, I was up and about in just two days, thanks to my unusual diet, courtesy of Google, but that worked!!! (The secret is sandwiches packed with meat and whole lotta veggies). Next time you are sick, Google the foods to eat during a fever, sore throat etc. You'll be surprised by the results.

Then the black out in Srilanka, adding to all the miseries of the month, like there isn't enough. But then, during this one particularly long blackout day, a Sunday, it felt good to do something out of the norm, almost all the phones died out in a few hours, so all the family members were out in the garden, playing card games, talking about the past, present, current affairs, or sharing about something we read on fb, or somewhere else, it was nice, very nice to be honest.

Technology has taken away our chance to live, or it has changed how we view life in general. Now everything revolves around mobile and internet, yes, internet is good, phones are convenient, but that is supposed to be a hobby, part of the day, not the entire day itself.

Whether at a funeral, a date, movie or any other social gathering, technology takes away our chance to mingle with people, and TALK.

When we were young, we used to play dress up, cooking games, or anything that requires us to have company, playtime was like bonding time between siblings back then, but now, everyone occupies a space somewhere and play these games virtually with some one on the other side of the world, while they ignore the person right next to them. There are some games/apps I personally prefer which requires another person, like Charades or games like Quizup has various topics which you can play in groups.

This is not healthy for children growing up, or even adults, we need to be outdoors, taking a walk, going to the beach, or merely playing cricket or football outside the house. The more time we spend indoors, the more lazy we get, plus more energy consumption, bringing me back to where I started, the blackout in the country.

I even had a discussion with my sisters about this, and surprisingly even they need a blackout, just so that we can have fun talking, or making beverages under the lantern light like the other day.

Even most of my electronic devices decided to give up on life this March, and I haven't still made up my mind about purchasing another BIG phone, we buy phones for almost close to 1 lakh, just because it is the latest, has a 3 MP cam more than the previous version, a little faster RAM, just to have it malfunction in a few months, and start over again? A phone with a good front and back cam, a faster RAM and at least 16 GB internal storage would do, it doesn't have to be 80k and the latest so that I can I show off among friends and family, it is gonna keep us from living this life and having FUN in real anyway.

Then there's also the drama, in an out of home, March turned out to be a Month of Mishaps, a series of tests from every angle, and I'm all set to declare it the Black Month of 2016. But then I may have to rethink it, cause, if not for this black month, I wouldn't be writing this much. And whatever said and done, life goes on, and all these experiences make us a better person day by day.

All you need to feel normal amidst all these mishaps and troubles is to keep yourself distracted, do what you usually do, anything that keeps you comfortable, in my case reading, and It's the Twilight Saga this March, I don't normally do romance, but it's good to do something out of our comfort zone once in a while.

And yes yes, I'm a late reader, I was one of those unfortunate ones to watch the movie first, but I guess that's better, instead of having it read beforehand and sulking at the movies.

Once again, improvised from the original in mind, mainly due to the change in weather, most of it was how annoyingly painful this weather was, but, sunny is always better than rainy.

Hopefully April will be full of things to write about (GOT Season 06!!!!), till then take care, great care, brace yourselves for the blows that are yet to come, and no matter what happens, stay strong peeps, sometimes Life happens, in my case, March happens!

Long Time, No Write : Updates of the Months Past: Making Memories

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hey There! Long time, no write, and I blame it all on the months past!

If February was horrible, then March is terribly terrible, or whatever similar word there is.

February turned out to be a month with overcast skies, so just like with the sky, the climate clouded my thoughts too!! Just the perfect weather to sleep all day or read, all in all, LAZY month... (Book of the month, End Game by James Frey, can't wait to get my hands on the sequel!!)

And then follows Maaaaarch, I had been expecting a sunny month so that I can get back to all my usual activities, especially writing, you see four weeks without writing is so NOT cool.

Turned out my wish for the weather was granted after all, just a few times more than what anyone could have wished for.

Apparently the heat is gonna get worse as the months go on, so much for cutting trees! You go nature! Sometimes I wonder, when will people ever learn from their mistakes??

Luckily, the rains have returned as I type this, a better April by the feel of it, and after a bad month, this is all we need right now.

And then the Deaths, my gran passed away during the 1st week of the month, she was healthy, happy and comparatively young. Though I never had a very close relationship with her, once she was gone, it rocked our world, nothing is the same without her even though we only realized it once she was gone.

Her death taught us many lessons, especially that death is totally unpredictable, and this world is short lived, so whatever we need to do or tell to someone, better now than later, I truly wish that I could have done many when she was alive, and it deeply hurts knowing that we will be celebrating all the special occasions in life without her.

Sometimes we take relationships for granted, friends, family, love, well the future is unstable for all of us, nobody can guarantee a long life, so it's always better if we don't put off everything to do later, let's do when we have time, let's do it when we have money, it'll never happen, when we do have the time and money, then we won't have the people we wanted to make memories with.

Small things like a meal for the family, gift for a loved one, or little gestures need not be put away for tomorrow, next month or next year, they may never come, for you or them. IF anything happens, and we never got to do what we wanted for them, or say the words which would mean a lot, the regret and pain is much more than the human mind can imagine.

If a loved one stopped talking to you, or left you to never look at you again, and that managed to blow a hole inside you, to change your life completely, imagine what it is like to have a loved one go to a point of no return?

At one point of life, everyone needs to see a person take their last breaths, it hurts, shatters you, but it also brings you back to reality, the important matters at hand, that it's about making memories and living life with people you know.

Sometimes we may not even realize our love for someone, or how much our soul yearns for their company until they are away, or gone forever. I guess our minds cloud our emotions most of the time.
Today, you may hate your parents, siblings, husband, children, relatives for minute reasons, but tomorrow, they are nothing but bad memories and regrets.

I was thinking of only one post with a complete update of March, but never expected to write this much on this one topic, this is the first, writing without having rough notes, so as this is kinda long, I've decided to post the rest separately.

So, Yes, it is very hard without my granny, but then again, life has to go on, instead of worrying about what could have been done, it's high time we look into what could be done.

Two days back we were looking at my grannys photo albums, and then looking at those, there was a completely different feeling that washed over, which I  wouldn't have had if I were looking on my phone. No matter how many thousands of photos we've got on our phone or computer, it's never the same like going through albums, that night I made a resolution to store all our best future memories in an album.

And I end this post with a poem I found on FB yesterday, which has turned out to be my life goals in one picture.

Lessons from a Sunday Evening

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Sundays, argh, I know every one of us hates Sundays , the day that takes away our freedom to sleep more the next day, but oddly though sunday is the day I find myself working a lot, usually saturday is my day, sleep as much as you want!

Sunday on the other hand is my stay at home, active day, solely dedicated to my hobbies and everything else (Laundry, Cleaning etc), oh and NO TV (Not a big TV fan).

Sunday is also my blog idea day, especially the last hour of Sunday, I wonder if it’s the stress of the past week upon me, or the thought of Monday and no sleep or just the excitement of writing a new post, I do not know.

As the title suggests, yes, the previous Sunday did indeed teach me a few lessons, which I’ll not forget forever, and which I will take encouragement from, this post serves that purpose, of reminding me forever.

LESSON 1: DO NOT HANG ON TO OLD THINGS, AT ONE POINT YOU GOTTA LET GO

It started off late evening, when I decided to go through my accessories, and pick which ones still suit best (high time I wear them), so half of my fashion jewelry were handed down (or rather taken forcefully) by my siblings, while the other half were given to the bin (I did keep 2 or 3 for me), I could have given them for someone, but  still, it’s always best to give the best to others, If you don’t like it or need it, others won’t too.

And these, mind you, were my most treasured, and rarely worn, that day I decided that they are not going to adorn my cupboard anymore, at one point I have to give them up for some one in real need, someone who wears them, and that’s exactly what I did!

LESSON 2: DO NOT PROCRASTINATE, IF YOU CAN DO IT TOMORROW YOU CAN DO IT TODAY, AND YOU CAN DO ANYTHING

One thing led to another, and I found myself giving my room a complete cleanup, making changes here and there.

That is when I noticed THE loose panel at the back of my table, it’s been there that way for the past 2 years and I’ve always wanted to get it done by a carpenter, which obviously never happened, and I decided that today would be the last day I’ll think that way.

Paused everything which I was doing, grabbed a few nails, a hammer and in 15 minutes, there my table is, with no sign of a 2 year old loose panel.

Sometimes we’ve got to be the carpenter, painter (happy to say that I did my entire room alone last Feb) , plumber and everything else in our life.

We’ve got to stop depending on others or procrastinating matters, especially if it takes a few minutes to to get it done, why not do it right NOW?

LESSON 3: YOU FIND BEAUTY IN THE MOST UNLIKELIEST THINGS

The branches that add 'something' to my boring table
Once done with the cleaning, it was time to get those branches in place, while one was serving its purpose as room décor, the other, well, was kinda a mess in my room, and I only wanted the main branch out of it.

I cut off the edges, and was picking them up to throw, voila, there’s a beauty in my hands, I really didn’t have the heart to dispose it, and now, they add something to my boring table.

LESSON 4: BEING A WOMAN ISN’T EASY

At the end of the night, while brushing, I was going through everything that took place throughout the day in my mind, and the things I have to do after brushing, its definitely not easy being a woman.

So much to take care of , Skincare, Oral care, Hair care (especially with dry curly hair like mine), and then there is the health to watch out for, eat healthy, office work, gotta keep the place tidy, keep relationships going, damn, kudos to us women!

Last but not the least, saw this picture on Instagram, found it too cute, and couldn't help but share it with everyone.

Resolutions for everyone

'Big Girl' by Danielle Steel, It's not only about the weight :Book Review

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

After days of reading action, thriller and romance, I finally found a novel I was touched by, and had important messages to its readers.

The novel was 'Big Girl' by Danielle Steel.

Whenever I get my hands on a Steel novel & see the advert for Big Girl, I made it a point to read this one day. And special thanks to a colleague who recently reminded me about the book :)

Being a one without weight gain issues so far, and having friends who are always in the mood to diet frantically, I was curious to know the the point of view of girls with weight issues, well, the book didn't disappoint me.

The story revolves around Victoria (named after Queen Victoria, for her chubby appearance and the nose) born to parents who are slender, model looking, self centered, outspoken and disappointed by her looks, making her constantly feel like the outcast of the family.

“.. that terrible feeling that you're not good enough to be loved by the people you love most, and eventually by anyone else.”
― Danielle Steel, Big Girl

"Big Girl: A novel on unconventional beauty, while exploring deeply resonant issues of weight, self image, sisterhood and family" (Daniellesteel.com)

While reading the book, it makes you realize that there may be people in this world to whom looks do matter a lot.

While the story does say about Victoria's constant urge to reduce wight, and how her dieting plans are ruined when she is depressed, it also reveals a few important aspects of life, something all of us can learn from, or relate to.

* Parenting, for example, how it should be and shouldn't be done, 'Comparison' between children being a big NO!! (Here, Victoria is compared with her sister Grace, who resembles her parents).

Every child born in this world is beautiful, and looks don't matter in life anyway, it is the heart that the people will remember till the end.

A child sees the world through it's parents eyes during its growing up period, and the way they view the child is how the child thinks that the world views him or her.

When a single parent or both the parents fail to be a moral support to the child, and constantly point out that the child will be a failure in life, and makes the child feel that he or she doesn't deserve to be loved as a result of how the child looks from the outside, it can have a great impact on the child's' life later on, affecting the child psychologically, making them question him / herself as to whether they really deserve what they have, and underestimate about themselves.

* Siblings also play a vital role in a child's future, when the parents fail to support a child, a kin to support, smile with, to give love and care, to speak to, can be a great consolation to the child.

* All the people don't think that you deserve to be unloved, there are people out there who will love you for just the way you are.

* No matter who you are, how you look, what you go through, there's always a better half to whom your looks don't matter, and who will indeed make you feel better, loved, understands you, protects and celebrates you!!!

"Life has a way of working out, the lid for every pot theory seemed to work, if you waited long enough and were patient"  - Danielle Steel, Big Girl

“People are so obsessed with that these days. As long as you're healthy, what difference do a few pounds make? Crazy diets. Thirteen-year-old girls on magazine covers who wind up in hospitals because they're so anorexic. Real women don't look like that. And who wants them to? No one wants a woman who looks sick or like she;s been from a refugee camp.”
― Danielle Steel, Big Girl

I say it's a good read, a book for everyone, it makes you feel better, gives you hope, and makes you realize that you are not the only one who feels like an outcast within your own family, and that you can be loved and celebrated!!

Mr. Perfect, Its all about adjusting and compromising in life: Movie Review

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

When life takes a new twist, everything around turns out to be a lesson, even Movies….

I watched this movie, Mr. Perfect, a Telugu dubbed in Tamil movie, few months back, and here is the review for the movie, which teaches us the Importance of Adjusting and Compromising in life….

The Plot

Vicky (Prabhas), an expert in Gaming Software, lives in Australia, never compromises in life, a principle he adheres to since his childhood. He believes one should be oneself in a relationship and one shouldn’t change one’s orientation for the sake of the Partner. He also encourages his friends to follow his policies.

He says : About the Importance of fulfilling Dreams & that a Girl should change her world, if not the boy will have to sacrifice his dreams, which isn’t practical, and that the world we live in, is a busy scheduled one and a husband and wife get the chance to meet only 2hrs a day, so he asks what is the need to compromise even in that time limited period.

But Vicky’s principles and attitudes leads to a clash of interests with his father (Nasser), who constantly advices him since childhood to adjust his character for his and others happiness.

Meanwhile in India, Vicky’s parents arrange a wedding alliance between him and Priya (Kajal Agarwal), Vicky’s childhood friend, who is a Doctor by profession, she and Vicky are poles apart, while Vicky is modern in thinking and is not ready to compromise in life, Priya is traditional, conservative and ready to compromise for others happiness.

Initially Vicky and Priya don’t get along very well, and both play practical jokes on one another, but later on her fathers’ advice, Priya attempts to change her attitudes toward Vicky, soon Priya falls in love for him, and changes in many ways like giving up her love for classical dance (as Vicky dislikes it), eating Non vegetarian , and wearing Modern clothes. Soon, Vicky falls for her too, and is ready to accept the proposal until he finds out that she has compromised on her interests for his sake, he rejects the proposal and leaves to Aussie.

Back in Australia, Vicky is matched up through a Cadbury Survey with Maggie (Taapsee Pannu), a free spirited, modern girl who shares his NO COMPROMISE attitude, soon, they meet, date and decide to get married. However Maggie’s father is none other than the brother of the head of MindGames, who is unwilling to let Vicky marry Maggie.

After much persuation from Vicky, Maggies father agrees to let Vicky marry Maggie, but on the condition, that Vicky should stay in his house for 4days, for Maggies sisters wedding, and if he manages to win over 2 relatives of Maggie, he would let Vicky have Maggie, and get a business in India, else he should forget Maggie and leave the contract.

Soon, relations start pouring from India, and to Vicky’s shock, one of them is Priya, the groom’s cousin. During the 4days with the help of Priya, Vicky manages to win over the entire family. It is clear that Vicky is going to win the challenge, so Priya leaves to India that night, heart broken, at the thought of Vicky marrying Maggie.

Vicky receives a message recorded by Priya prior to him rejecting her, on her mobile, where she had declared her love for him. He gains a change of heart, on seeing this, and realizes how much priya had loved him and was willing to change, inspite of his faults. He also realizes the need for compromises in life.

Vicky conveys his feeling to all the wedding guests and Maggie, and decides not to marry her, Maggie understands his feelings and accepts the decision.

Vicky returns to India to win back Priya, after initially playing hard to get, Priya accepts his love.

The messages given through the movie

The movie may initially look like an ordinary Romantical comedy, but at the end, it has many simple things which makes us think and make use of in our lives too, the themes/ messages portrayed through the movie is given below ;

  • Shows the Importance of socializing with people in a function, i.e staying away from Technos like Mobiles, Laptops etc
  • When you do something you like, the happiness you get is limited, but if you do something  which others like, the happiness you get out of it is unlimited.
  • Winning isn’t Important in life, adjusting is, the more you adjust, the more you will have your friends and relations beside you in life.
  • What we give, comes back to us.
  • We should adjust to come up in life.
  • Every time you decide to win a game, u learn what the real success in life is, i.e the happiness you get by sacrificing ur happiness/ dreams for someone else’s happiness.
  • That certain things in life make us happy, while some others make us sad when we think about them, It’s us who should decide what to and what not to think.
  • If two people have to get together, one person should sacrifice/ compromise.
  • Love is not what we like, but it is about adjusting to the way others like.
  • We don’t regret if we adjust in Love, but we realize that Love becomes strong and lasts longer instead.
  • Marriage isn’t what happens between 2 perfect people,  but it’s about making each other perfect according to each other.
  • Marriage is a beginning for a new life, and if initiated with affection it will  last longer with beauty.
  • AND IF U EXPECT TO BE HAPPY FOREVER, LITTLE WORRIES IN BETWEEN, IS NORMAL, and we should tolerate them in order to live a Happy life.

So yes, such messages are indeed inspiring and they are included in the movie not only to entertain us, but also for us to make use of them in life and lead a fruitful life making us and others around us Happy J

None of us are born perfect, but made perfect by life, and this perfectness can be achieved only by ADJUSTING AND COMPROMISING!!! :D
